Meet the Pro: Ron Bibeau

I was introduced to the game by my father at the age of 8 mainly because I was too young to play little league baseball and a life- long passion for the game began. I remember my mom would drop me off in the morning at the golf course near our home and I would stay there all day, 36-54 holes was the norm. I was there so much the owner put me to work picking the range and helping out with anything that needed to be done at the course and that is when I realized I wanted to work in the golf business. I played successful amateur golf, for ten years winning many events and club championships, working in the construction field until I met Bob Darling the Head Golf Professional at Martindale Country Club in Auburn, Maine. He offered me a job as his First Assistant, teaching, working in the pro-shop and playing with members; of course I jumped at the opportunity and began my working career in golf in 1990. I worked at Martindale for 11 seasons while working on becoming a PGA member and took my first Head Golf Professional position at Turner Highlands in Turner, Maine.  I stayed there for 3 years and then took The Head Golf Professional position at Riverside Municipal Golf Course in Portland managing 27 holes and working for the city of Portland. On January 1, 2012 I took the position as The Executive Director of The First Tee of Maine and was tasked to grow junior programs in the State of Maine. It was a wonderful experience that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Being The Head Golf Professional at Dunegrass is the culmination of a life in golf that has prepared me to give our members and guests the best golf experience in Southern Maine.

I also serve as an officer of The New England Section of the PGA; I am currently the Vice President and will be elected President in November of 2017 to serve a two year term.

I was elected to The Maine Golf Hall of Fame in 2014 and have been honored by me peers with several awards over the years:
